Jinya of Wintertempest and Mystery
Part 9
To Arms
-White Blaze Wannabe >^.^<-
~
She stood there, the scene slowly filtering in, a detached being. Unlike
most of her dreams this was not a memory, for Jinya knew that the perspective
wasn't hers. A dim hall way of stone lay before her, most likely one of
many in Talpa's palace. At the end of it was a high double door, that she
struggled to remember in her hazy state. As she was about to think of its
exact location the door bust open to reveal two people she knew, or had
known. One, a blue-skinned magician that looked older than time itself,
Badamon, and the other, A tiny blonde-haired boy that couldn't have been
more than 2 or 3 years old that was nearly being dragged by the priest,
a very young Otani.
"Come along, little one," Badamon said as he looked back at
the not so content toddler, "The Master is pleased with your progress.
Let us please him even more."
The little boy grunted, expressing that he could care less about what his Master thought.
Badamon store him down and then fully dragged him around the corner.
"I think that you need a bit of persuasion!" could be heard echoing
through the stone.
Again she looked at the empty hallway and its flickering torches and
wondered at the purpose of this dream. Usually, her dreams didn't have purposes,
but while she was alone she couldn't help but wonder. Then she heard the
clicking of boots on stone and then she faced the other side of the hall.
A small figure walked down it, not as tiny as Otani, but just small compared
to the regular soldiers and Warlords. She came into the light of the torches,
revealing herself to be a very worried Kayura, who held something in her
arms.
"At least it's nice to be home..." she said seemingly to comfort
herself as she neared the point from where Jinya seemed to look out of.
Then she looked down at that which she carried, which, as she neared, was
something wrapped in white, apparently to see if it was all right. "This
is an offer he cannot refuse," she whispered as she drew away from
it and looked down the hall towards the door.
All Jinya wanted to know was what she was carrying. As Kayura passed,
she saw. It was a baby. It was her!
What the hell. What kind of dream is this?
Jinya seemed to follow her as she walked down the hall and shouldered
open the door, then her view leapt across the room. Now she knew where she
was. A dim light came from behind her and a large armored figure sat in
a throne at her right, Talpa.
"Ah, Lady Kayura," he addressed his servant as she came into
the light, "It is good to have you back after so long a mission."
"It is a pleasure to return to your service, Master Talpa,"
she said formally and almost strained.
Then he obviously noted the white bundle in her arms. "What is it you
carry with you?"
She glanced down at what Jinya knew to be herself at a very young age.
"A child, Master. I found her whilst I was traveling back here on the
road. Some poor family had obviously abandoned her, but I took her with
me because I sensed great power in her."
Somehow, inspite of his mask, Talpa looked intrigued. "Really?"
"Yes, Master Talpa. She seems almost surrounded by some ancient
magic. I thought that your other young servant could use a partner, maybe,"
she suggested.
There was silence for a moment, probably as Talpa reached out with his
mind to assess this 'power' that he was supposed to sense in the child that
lay before him. Then he spoke, even more intrigued. "You are correct,
Lady Kayura. She holds much power within her tiny body. As I have trusted
young Otani to Badamon, you shall now be trusted with this one. I believe
that she may benefit us when she is grown. You are dismissed."
A great burden seemed to be lifted from Kayura's shoulders as she bowed
awkwardly with the tiny Jinya still in her arms, yet also a great burden
placed.
Then all was dark and Jinya was in her body again, but still not awake.
"What was the purpose of that?" she asked the blackness. "I
know that that must have happened. It might've helped me out if I saw a
week or so before."
"You are searching for many answers," a very faint male voice
replied, surprisingly, "I am merely helping you to come to them."
"Who are you? What do you mean?" she was surprised by someone,
or something, actually being there, but she still didn't understand.
"Your friends would know."
"That says a lot...If you're trying to help me out, why don't you
show me my parents, or how to depossess Otani, or something useful!"
She was actually getting angry at this disembodied voice.
"I am not allowed to be so direct. I must show you this way,"
he stated calmly inspite of her irate tone.
"WHAT way? That made no sense!"
"You will come to understand this soon. Farewell..." then it
sounded like he mumbled something like 'virtue's arrow', but she couldn't
be sure, for his voice was no more than a whisper.
~
"Don't go away..." Jinya heard herself grumble then opened
her eyes to find the ceiling of her room in Mia's house. She looked at the
clock that read five minutes past noon. Nearly 12 hours since she had escaped
further interrogation last night. She didn't want get up. Too many things
whizzed through her brain and all she wanted to do was sink into a dreamless
sleep. Maybe she could get someone to knock her out...that would be nice...
Much to her dismay she realized that she would have to get up sooner
or later and then made a dash for the shower, hoping that all except Rowen
were all up and done with it and that the aforementioned warrior was still
asleep.
~
"Why are we doing this again?" Sekhmet asked as he trudged
through a not so well maintained forest trail, far away from his comfortable
rooms and snake companions in the palace.
"I TOLD you already!" Kayura exclaimed, turning around and stopping the whole group of four,
"Otani has somehow had his scarring spell activated and is now possessed
by a demon. Now, unless you want to loose your freedom AGAIN, I suggest
you help me track down what did it to him and get rid of it!"
Sekhmet remembered when Talpa had cast that spell on him long ago and
threatened that if he did not remain loyal, that he would loose control
of his own body to a demon, but be forced into his mind. Then he wondered
why Talpa didn't use it on him when he began to question his loyalty after
Anubis went over to help the Ronins. The old Demon Lord must have known
not to trust his own demons. The former Warlord of Venom snickered to himself
and Kayura rolled her eyes at him.
"Without Talpa around you guys can't seem to focus on anything.
What can I do to whip you into shape?" she asked with an evil glare.
"I think that whip idea's pretty nice..." Cale said with a
grin.
She promptly smacked him and lead on, for lack of intelligent conversation.
~
Jinya was kind of glad that the other occupants of Mia's house seemed
to ignore the previous day's events, possibly for her sake. This, of course
didn't mean they would be soft on her. As she walked down the stairs and
into the kitchen all eyes fell expectantly on her. "What? What did
I do?" she questioned their accusing gazes.
"It's your turn to wake up Blue Boy," Sage stated calmly.
"Do it quick! I'm hungry!" Kento exclaimed, his gaze going
between her and the food that Cye was preparing.
Jinya groaned and headed back up the stairs. She had offered to help
around the house as a way of thanks to Mia for letting her stay there, but
this was the hardest, and most dangerous of all chores. She opened the door
to Rowen's cluttered room and waded through the books, clothing, and whatever
else prevented the carpeting from showing and up to his bed where the electric-blue-haired
young man lay tangled in his sheets, muttering something unintelligible
to his pillow. She thought over her battle plan for a moment and grabbed
the other pillow that had obviously been shoved off the bed.
"Rowen!" she yelled, at first, lightly shaking one shoulder.
No response. "ROWEN!" she screeched, this time closer to his ear,
and shook his shoulders violently.
"Rrmh grhffm rarfm..." was her only answer as he rolled over
to get away from the evil monster which was trying to wake him out of his
dreams.
"You asked for it..." she said grimly as she shook her head
and took the pillow in both hands. She reached back, then hit him full force
in the face with it and ran, nearly tripping over 'War and Peace' on her
way out. She snickered as she quickly set herself down in a kitchen chair.
"Mission accomplished."
"All right!" Rowen shouted down the stairs, "Who did it
THIS time?"
Jinya tried to hold back a laugh for her own safety, but it was really
hard and a small snork (copyright ME! Yes ME, Dusted Pyxie! oh...sorry...)
escaped her.
"YOU!" he growled and came charging after Jinya, who had risen
from her seat and bolted out of the kitchen. She hoped agily over the coffee
table as they entered the living room, but she forgot to take into account
that the couch was just ahead of it, and slammed into it. She flipped around
with a groan to try and make her retreat, but a very angry and not quite
fully awake Rowen pinned her against the couch with a malicious glare in
his eyes.
She smiled up at him meekly, in hopes of stopping him from pummeling
her with the pillow he had grabbed off the couch and because he was really
kind of squishing her against the back of the couch, and that was, well,
awkward. "At least I didn't threaten to set fire to your astronomy
books..." Jinya suggested, again in hopes of getting away. Kento had
done that 3 days ago and Rowen had nearly gone biserk.
He backed off. "You've been warned..."
She sighed in relief and anxiously awaited tomorrow morning...err...afternoon.
Then it would be Sage's turn.
~
Otani set out again, this time he was to remain in the Nether Realm.
Lady Kayura and the other former servants of Talpa were searching him and
his Master out. At this time the secrecy of their location was vital and
the Lady and former Warlords were getting too close. They needed to be eliminated.
Otani's subconscious had no problem with this, even though he had also known
them most of his life, they were teachers, harsh and traitorous teachers,
all under the influence of that foul Lady Kayura. Master Talpa should've
known that she would be trouble.
If it were not for her, things would be a hell of a lot easier. There
would be no need for this subterfuge and hiding. Jinya, his counterpart,
would still be on the same side as him and they would be an unbeatable team
once more. Until two years ago, Otani had been trained as one of two, now
it seemed awkward, even in his determined state, to fight without anyone
at his side. He was his only companion now, since the demons and his Master
didn't make very good company. The part of him that was still human longed
for another of his kind.
A nagging tug on his mind told him that Kayura and that dammed staff
of hers weren't far away. He quickly pinpointed their location and teleported
there. The expressions on his old teachers' faces was priceless.
"Greetings, my Lady, my Lords. Do you know how much you are annoying
my Master?" he said almost cheerfully.
"Otani, you poor kid, what happened to your face?" Kayura asked,
trying to evade the impending fight.
"Shall we see if it works on you?"
Sekhmet groaned. "These questions are getting annoying...no one's
getting answers..."
Otani glared at him. "All right, half-breed, take this for an answer!"
Otani charged the former Warlord of Venom and tried to smash his face in.
Sekhmet, however, was prepared, he had his subarmor on under his clothing
and blocked Otani's fist. He laughed, but then Otani punched him in the
stomach.
"Oh great..." Kayura sighed as she prepared to call Cruelty.
~
"DIEEEE!!!" Jinya screamed, her fingers moving at lightening
speed and pressing as many buttons as fast as possible.
Blood oozed over Rowen's eyes and the split TV screen turned black, proclaiming
Jinya to be the winner, and Rowen the loser. He tried to burn holes in her
head with his angry scowl. "One more round...then we move onto Super
Smash Brothers."
She avoided direct eye contact with him, fearing the (Heero Yuy) deathglare.
"You just don't wanna play Goldeneye cuz your losing."
He growled deeply, like a cornered wolf. "I offered another round,
didn't I?"
"Fine, this one's all or nothing. And I'll offer YOU some advice...Don't
be Boris again, his shirt's too bright and it makes him too easy to find.
If I can't see you, then I can't beat the crap out of you."
He sighed and chose some military guy for his character. "Why did
we even teach you how to play these games?"
She laughed and was about to pelt him with more indirect insults, but
a whisper in the deep regions of her mind stopped her. Jinya! Get help!
Otani's thrashing the guys and I don't know how much longer I can hold him
off!
"Earth to Jinya!"
She dropped her N64 controller and faced Rowen with a very serious expression.
"Kayura needs help. Help me round up the other Ronins!" Then she
sprinted into the kitchen, hoping to find Kento or Cye.
"Wait!" he called after her, "How do you know?"
She had found Cye and was in the middle of telling him, but turned around to shout at Rowen. "Telepathy you baka! Go get the others!"
I know, I know, "WBW! NO! I wanna see the fight!"
