Jinya of Wintertempest and Mystery
Prologue
A young woman tossed restlessly in her sheets. It was long past midnight
and she still couldn't sleep. It was too hot and the torches in the hall
by her room were too bright. Her long, dark red hair had long fallen out
of its customary ponytail and now lay in a tangled mess on her pillow. She
sighed, shifted around a bit, and finally fell into a uneasy, dream filled
sleep.

A little girl walked beside a huge man. She had dark blue eyes that sparkled
in the light of the sunny day. Her hair was red, but not as dark as it would
be 10 years later. The man, well, he easy to identify. He was Anubis.
He smiled genially down at the girl and asked, "Do you like it here,
Jinya?"
The girl nodded vigorously back at him. "Yes, yes, I really do."
He laughed at her obvious delight in this new place. They walked down a
tree-lined boulevard in Toyama.
"'Nubis," she asked after a while, "Can we stay here a little
bit longer?"
He frowned. "No, I'm afraid not. I can ask to come back again though."
"Oh! Could you? Please, 'Nubis! This place is much better than the
Nether Realm!"
He smiled down at her and reached for her small hand as they entered a more
crowded part of the city. "How could I keep you away from something
you enjoy so much?" he questioned her, "I could never bring myself
to do that!"
She giggled, but then look up at him strangely as his expression quickly
turned serious. "What's wrong?"
"Come along. We're going in that shop over there." He pointed
to a small building with signs all over it. The girl could read a few of
them, but not many, she was still learning and some of the words were unfamiliar
to her.
The interior of the store was neat and tidy and had a kind of coziness to
it. A man with dark hair stood behind the counter and Anubis went over to
talk to him. The girl lost interest quickly and decided to explore the store
a little more. She found a boy about her age in a small corner of the room.
He also had dark hair, but his eyes were a stunning true blue. He looked
up her curiously.
"Konichiwa! My name's Jinya. What's yours?" The girl was very
enthusiastic, she rarely got to meet people her own age.
"Hi…I'm Ryo. Nice to meet you. Is that your daddy over there at
the counter?"
The little girl smiled, but shook her head. "No, 'Nubis is just my
friend."
"Oh," the boy was obviously bored, "They look like they're
gonna be talking for a while. You wanna go outside and play?"
"Sure!"
The part about the game was hazy. There was a lot of laughter and running
involved and eventually a big white tiger joined in, but the girl wasn't
afraid. She played with Saber Stryke's tiger all the time.
After a while, Anubis came to get her. "We have to go, Jinya! Say goodbye!"
The girl pouted. She patted the tiger on the head and said, "Goodbye,
Ryo."
The boy was still delighted by the fun of their game. "See ya later,
Jinya."
Anubis picked her up and she shrugged in his strong arms. "Maybe…"

Jinya woke up groggily as the light came into her room. That dream had been
a memory, when she was about 5 or 6 maybe. The last time she went to the
Mortal World. Those days were over though. Anubis was dead and if he wasn't,
he probably couldn't pick her up so easily. She again wondered exactly how
old she was. She didn't really know, but it had to be somewhere around 16…

Why doesn't she know her exact age? What the heck is a kid doing in the
Nether Realm? MUHAHA! I have you now! And they said I couldn't do a serious
