Revival- Part 1

By: White Blaze Wannabe

Disclaimer: I don't own Outlaw Star, but I AM saving up to buy Gene! That's all I need anyway…

The shop on Sentinel III was dark and quiet. Gene, Jim, and Melfina were all sleeping, thankfully not kept up by Aisha's yelling at the TV all night or Suzuka constantly sipping tea. No, it was a peaceful night, at least until the phone rang waking poor Jim up, who really wanted to catch up on his sleep. It wasn't such and unordinary event, since their business was doing anything and everything, so they did get some late calls. He walked down stairs and picked up the phone and was surprised to see that the video screen was all black. Obviously this person wanted to remain anonymous.

"Hello. This is Hawking of Starwind and Hawking. May I help you?" he asked between yawns.

"I have some information for you…That is if you want to know it," a mechanically distorted voice stated on the other end of the line.

Jim then shook himself awake. "Depends what it's about?" he inquired slyly.

"Two old friends of yours…" it told him vaguely.

"We've got a lot of 'friends'," Jim informed it, "But you've caught my interest. How can I get this information?"

"Come to a bar called Phoenix Sands on Kuji Street tomorrow evening with your partner. Look for a man in a long black coat with dark blue hair. He has your information..." Then it hung up.

Jim blinked for a few seconds before hanging up too. He wanted to wake Gene up and talk to him about it, but he knew that the redhead would be mad, so he got out his little computer and tried to trace the call, but found that his signal got scrambled halfway through. Whoever it was that had made the call obviously didn't want to be found. Jim shrugged and went back to bed. He was too tired, even if he was really interested, to do much more.

Gene woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs and rolled lazily out of bed. He took a quick shower and got dressed then came down to find Jim and Melfina already eating. "Hope you saved some for me!" he whined in greeting.

Melfina giggled. "Don't worry, there's plenty."

"Hey Gene," Jim started as soon as his older friend sat down, "I got a call last night, couldn't find out who the hell it was, because they blacked out the screen, distorted their voice, and I couldn't trace the call, but they said that they had some information for us about 'two old friends'."

Gene nearly spit his food out at his partner. "JIM! Why didn't you wake me up?"

Jim cowered away a bit. "I thought you'd be mad…But they said if we came to this bar called Phoenix Sands on Kuji street there would be a guy there that would tell us what we want to know."

"Sounds interesting…" Melfina added.

Gene scratched his head. "Yeah, it does, but what old friend do you think this person was talking about? It could be anyone…"

Jim thought for a moment. "Well, I don't one of them is Aisha, because she just e-mailed me yesterday. And it couldn't be Suzuka, because no one's heard anything about her since she left us…"

Gene frowned. "Then I don't think these are the good kind of friends…"

The Phoenix Sands bar wasn't in the best of neighborhoods, and Gene was glad that he told Melfina to stay and watch the shop. The place was dirty, broken down even, and was filled with dirty looking people. They looked around for the man described to Jim and were having a hard time finding him, until they went over to the darkest corner of the shabby little place. At a table meant for three sat a young looking man with spiky dark blue hair who was almost completely covered by a black trench coat. The strange thing about him was the turquoise tattoo on his forehead. It reminded Gene of the dragon symbol of the galactic leyline, in fact, it was frighteningly similar.

"You Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking?" he asked with interest.

"Only if you tell us who you are…" Gene said smartly.

"Fine them," the strange guy responded, "You can call me Yuki."

Gene and Jim sat down.

"What do you know about our…'friends', Yuki?" Gene continued.

"First I need your word that you won't tell another soul about this," Yuki commanded as he held out one black gloved hand.

"I don't think you're the type that likes to play games, so I'll shake on it," Gene said as he grabbed Yuki's hand and shook it. The guy's hand was so cold, it was kind of creepy, and Gene took his hand back quickly.

"I'll assume you speak for the kid to so we can get on with this. I have a lot to do tonight," Yuki declared, "I have some information on the McDoogle brothers--"

Jim cut him off. "I thought they were dead!?" he exclaimed, covering up the fact that he pretty much knew.

Yuki coughed and started again. "So does everyone else…but they're both still alive, even if that Harry kid's an android. They said that they were both killed in that battle with the Kei pirates a couple months ago, and of all people I think you should've known…"

Gene's eyes narrowed. "Just who are you?"

Yuki coughed again. "Do you want to know the rest or not?"

Gene glared again but then looked away.

"Good. Well, there've been reports of sightings of their ship, and they've just questioned a doctor on Hayfong 5 who claims that he created a new body for Harry and fixed up Ron. Their ship was sighted just 50 light-years away from here last night. If I didn't know better, I'd say their looking for you, Gene," he warned.

"How are ya doin' back there, Harry?" Ron asked over his shoulder.

"Just fine, Ron," Harry answered from the goo filled capsule he stood in, "We'd better get going."

"When you're right, you're right," Ron laughed, "Blast us straight to Sentinel III. We're going to see some…heh…friends."

How'd ya like it? This is my first OLS fic, DUR! Please review! Pardon me calling the stuff "goo", but there's no better word for it…
